MONTHLY MEETINGS

The public is invited to the Center's monthly meetings, held the fourth Friday of each month at 6:00 p.m. The next meeting will be March 23 at 351 Wagoner Drive, Suite 200 in the Smart Start Building. Meetings for the remainder of the year are April 27, May 25, June 22, July 27, August 24, September 28 and October 26. All are at the address listed above.

ACTIVITIES

"La Tienda" will open on March 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the Center.  You will find all kind of things for the house and the family.  A yard sale will be held in the parking area. It will open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. When you find something you like, you can name your own price. Sales will benefit the Center's programs and projects.

"La Fiesta Cinco de Mayo," at Fayetteville Museum of Art, is a festival designed to unite and welcome the vast Hispanic/Latino community that lives and works in Cumberland County.  We are extending an invitation to all citizens to celebrate along with those of Latino heritage. This great event is to be enjoyed by all. There will be activities for children as well as music and art that can be appreciated by all. This event is organized by the Lafayette Rotary Club of Fayetteville, the Fayetteville Museum of Art, the Hispanic / Latino Center and the Habitat for Humanity.

Federal Laws prohibit employment discrimination: "The mission of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is to promote equal employment opportunity by enforcing the federal civil rights employment laws through administrative and judicial actions, education and technical assistance".

Due to the numerous inquiries and requests for information received at the Center by the Hispanic community concerning discrimination issues, an EEOC representative will be available to consult and provide technical assistance on the third Tuesday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The first technical assistance will be conducted on March 20 at the Center (222 Rowan St.).
