January 2001 Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) Offers you a special opportunity. Students who graduate from the HRD program, or students who are currently enrolled in the AHS or GED programs, or in advanced levels of the ESL program may enroll in any of the Continuing Education Occupational Extension Class. FREE! There is a wide range of classes available: bank teller training, dental receptionist, CPR, forklift operator and certification, and many, many more. All HRD graduates, AHS, GED and advanced level ESL students are encouraged to contact their instructor or Mr. Phillip Crawford, Basic Skills Program Counselor (678-8220), for more information about enrolling in a FREE occupational extension class. You donate, we sell, and together we will help our community. Often times you want to renew your wardrobe or get household goods, but you realize it is too expensive! We are open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. You may call us at 321-1492. TERTULIA. We invite you to our weekly tertulia. Bring a bag lunch. We will provide refreshments. English speakers that learned Spanish and want to practice it, but do not have the opportunity to do it, can converse in Spanish with us. We hope to establish a feeling of camaraderie between Hispanics and non-Hispanics in the community. The tertulias will take place every Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., at 222 Rowan St. Call 321-1492 for more information. HISPANIC FAIR. We would like you to mark in your calendar the dates of April 20th to 22nd, when the great three-day annual event of the Hispanic/Latino Center takes place at Cumberland Auditorium. The fair is open to the population of the entire State of North Carolina. If you would like to participate as a vendor or exhibitor, please call the Center at 321-1492. Mr. Rey Latorre is the coordinator of the event. TV PROGRAM IN SPANISH. Please turn your TV dial to "Punto de encuentro", our TV program in Spanish. It airs on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. on the Community Channel (Channel 7). You will learn about issues of interest to the Hispanic community. |
